There are 115 of these drivers currently talking to a non Casambi system in 32s, (32,32,32,19) and we want to replace the control with casdmx. I’m thinking 1 casdmx to 8 drivers for commercial reasons. This correct?
The real answer is, it is all up to the DMX control cabling. The theoretical load that the casDMX can drive is 64 input DMX loads, but that would be with stellar wiring – short, no stubs, and possibly a 120 ohm terminator if you do have to run long runs.
If i was us, we would break it down into nodes that are going to be close to each other, perhaps under a few hundred feet. Group those to one casDMX, always planning around wire grouping/runs.
We have run 100 devices, 500 feet or more and have had no trouble, with good wire – DMX grade wire. Twisted pair on the DMX- and DMX_, shield is the ground. And we have run 20 units with just wire, and had issues.
